Mardi Himal Trek:
The Mardi Himal Trek is a short route in the Annapurna region that follows a ridge above Pokhara. It is a relatively new trekking trail and offers a quiet walking experience through forest paths, small villages, and open viewpoints with close mountain scenery.
The journey begins with a drive from Pokhara to the trailhead near Kande. The trail then climbs through villages such as Australian Camp and Pothana before entering dense rhododendron forest. From there, the route continues through Forest Camp and Low Camp, with gradual elevation gain and changing views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Many trekkers spend a night at Badal Danda, a ridge point with wide views of the Annapurna range.
Higher sections of the trek open toward the Mardi Himal ridge. From these viewpoints, trekkers can see Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Annapurna II, Mardi Himal, and Machhapuchhre. Sunrise and sunset often bring clear light across the peaks and ridgelines, with shifting colors over the mountains.
This is a moderate trek with daily walking times of around 4 to 6 hours. Accommodation is in teahouses with simple rooms and meals. The Mardi Himal Trek is suitable for beginners with basic fitness and for trekkers who want a shorter Himalayan route with forest walks, ridge views, and close mountain scenery.
